The past week has seen something of a UFO flap over the England with a dozen or so sightings reported to UK UFO Sightings for the week ending Sunday 26th June 2011. With the longer daylight hours around the summer solstice which was on Tuesday this week, this increase in reporting may only reflect the increase in the number hours that people spend outdoors. 

While UK UFO Sightings received many report I'm sure that a greater number went unreported. On Saturday, while attending a meeting in Leeds, a friend and an acquaintance both told me of their own sightings over West Yorkshire in the previous week. Neither of them filed a report with any reporting group on-line or otherwise. Nowadays not even the Ministry of Defense take reports of UFO sightings - according to Nick Pope UFO reporting was simply too much work for the MoD to cope with. Of course there are places to report UFO sighting in the UK such as UK UFO Sightings (www.uk-ufo.co.uk). Then there are other on-line places that people can document their UFO sightings. One such place is YouTube.

E.T. PHONED home almost 30 years ago, but Welsh households are still phoning the police with details of more UFO sightings in Wales.

South Wales Police have released details of reported UFO sightings it has received from homeowners.

A total of 16 reports of UFOs were made to the police force between the February 2007 and January of this year.

One caller reported seeing a large UFO emitting beams light into the Aberfan night sky, with several smaller crafts circling it. Another person saw four unidentified flying objects soar past two aeroplanes flying above to the Ford engine plant in Bridgend.

And one witness at Maerdy mountain saw a large, grey orb shoot past the moon.

Christmas has come nine months early for UFO researchers with the release of another tranche of hitherto secret government files.

But the record of how the British authorities responded to the public over the "flying saucer" issue is fascinating in itself.

For decades officials have been caught in a paradox which plays itself out as the reader browses the documents, free for the next month from the National Archives website.

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange has noted numerous references to “secret UFO files” in the various diplomatic material now held by WikiLeaks, but more telling, says an Oregon State University student, is what Assange is not saying about his classified material holdings; while, at the same time, a recent CBS “60 Minutes” interview with Assange pointed to yet more cover-ups and strange dealings by world governments to shut WikiLeaks up.

Assange did not address secret UFO files during his 60 Minutes interview, but he did talk at length about how governments “hide important information” from the citizenry.

The files include every witness account of unidentified flying objects reported to authorities since early 1952, including the infamous 1978 Kaikoura mystery.

Detailed in more than 2000 pages of files are letters from people who claim to be in touch with alien beings, sketches from witnesses and media reports.
